The other distinguished judges will include Elisabeth Röhm (Law and Order, Miss Congeniality 2), Eric Viskovicz (Celebrity Personal Trainer), Jeff Garner (Designer), Linda Thompson (Actress and GRAMMY Nominated Songwriter), Marnie Saitta (Casting Director), Michael Yo (E! Celebrity Correspondent), Shaun Toub (Iron Man) and Timothy Durham (CEO, National Lampoon). Atlantic Records recording artist Ryan Cabrera and American Idol Season 7 finalist Michael Johns will also be in attendance to provide live musical entertainment.
The following "Heart On My Sleeve" video is from Michael's performance at Hollywood and Highland.
A little over a month ago, Michael Johns performed several songs from his new album Hold Back My Heart in a live concert held at Hollywood and Highland. The concert was meant to celebrate the June 23rd release of his debut album and was in fact performed only two days after the album hit shelves nationwide. It's also available for digital download at Amazon.com and iTunes.
News of this concert was overshadowed that day, as we learned Michael Jackson had just passed away. Now that a respectable amount of time for mourning has passed and some high quality videos of the performance have recently surfaced, I'm happy to share with you Michael Johns live at Hollywood and Highland, performed June 25, 2009.
My thanks to Lovinthefro09 for uploading most of the following videos. The first video is one posted by scoobyld, in which Michael Johns pays a stunning tribute to Michael Jackson, RIP the King of Pop. This was one of the first tributes to Michael Jackson to be posted to YouTube. All of the other videos, with the exception of "Hold On", are from the new album Hold Back My Heart, by Michael Johns.
This just in from the AP (Associated Press)! New video announces Michael Johns Hold Back My Heart album release! Way to go Michael! I didn't write this one, but I'm happy to share it with all the American Idol Michael Johns' fans.
"Former 'American Idol' contestant Michael Johns releases new album, "Hold Back My Heart." Johns - one of the first non-US citizens to make the Top 12 - came fifth place in the seventh season of 'American Idol'. (July 15)"
It's not often that an "Idol" like Michael Johns asks his fans to help out, so when he did, I was more than willing to offer whatever I can to help spread the word to all of his fans. Michael sent out a bulletin and a blog today, both requesting the same thing. Here's what he had to say:
Hey everyone,
Clear Channel has chosen me as one of their "Artists to Watch" but I still need your help. I would love it if you could spread the word about the promotion and request "Heart on My Sleeve" through their ON DEMAND service located at the top of the page.
We're trying to get the single all over radio so this would be HUGE!
Thanks so much and see you on tour!
MJ
Now being the faithful little Michael Johns fan that I am, I clicked on the "RIGHT HERE" portion of his blog and bulletin to follow through with his request. It did indeed take me to the Adult section of the iheartradio.com site. When I got there, I noticed that Michael was on that page, but under their "Recommended" artist section instead of "Artists to Watch". He's the nice looking fellow on the far right, bottom row.
The picture above will take you to the iheartradio.com's Adult page.
I also went to the On Demand section just as he asked, but couldn't find how to request an artist or a song. I was able to find his music by entering the On Demand section, then finding a Search button on the very far right of the iheart radio player, I entered his name and then clicked on select. I got to "Heart On My Sleeve" from his new album Hold Back My Heart easily enough, but I don't know if that constitutes making a request, so I fired off an email to the site. I asked them flat out how to make a request on their website (and requested the song via email too). They're supposed to answer within 12 hours, so I'll let you know how that goes.
If you click on the picture below, it'll take you directly to his page, which looks something like this.
One of Michael's fans also suggested that those who have Twitter accounts can make their requests by tweeting @iheartradio and @NEWArtists - Please play Michael Johns - "Heart On My Sleeve" . No worries my Twitter friends, I'll do it from a Twitter account no one knows about instead of bombarding you like I did on the AOL "All Twitter Request" radio station. :P
The first time I ever heard of Rye Randa was while watching Shaun White's documentary "Don't Look Down" as it was broadcast on ESPN Classic. It's not as if Mr. Randa is an unknown it the music industry. As a matter of fact, he's one of the most respected producer/songwriter/musicians in the business.
I have to admit the only reason I watched the Shaun White snowboard documentary was because I'd heard Michael Johns had teamed up with two others (Rye Randa and Jeff Foxworth) to score the soundtrack for the film. Suffice it to say, I was completely blown away by the music and could not wait to find out when to expect a release date in order to purchase a copy.
Being the nosy little Michael Johns fan that I am, I just had to know more about his collaborations, and what other music Rye and Michael may have teamed up on together. It helped me immensely when one of my fellow IDF forum members mentioned they'd seen Rye Randa listed as one of Michael Johns' top friends on his MySpace Music page.
I proceeded with all due haste to that place, and followed a link to Rye Randa's own MySpace Music page. What I found while diving into each scrap of information I could find about Rye impressed me so much, I felt he'd more than earned an article of his own.
I took a chance and decided to ask Mr. Randa if he might add me as a MySpace friend. I didn't really expect a reply after learning all there is to know about him. I assumed he was too big, or too busy to add a run of the mill, relative unknown like me, but still I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
You can imagine my surprise when I logged on and found, not only had he added me, but he'd also replied to the message I sent along with the request to be added. The message I offered was simple enough and heartfelt, as I told him how much I'd enjoyed not only the documentary score, but also the incredible music on his website.
Since I already knew of his previous works with Michael, who currently has a new single scheduled for release in November, and a full CD expected out by February, I asked Mr. Randa if he was in any way involved in that project.
The following was the exchange of emails that took place in response to my first question. With great pleasure, may I present:
Rye Randa…in his own words.
From: RYE RANDA Date: Sep 30, 2008 1:15 AM
Thanks Rebecca! Glad you like the music.
To answer your question, it's too soon to tell, but there is at least one song we've collaborated on that could make the record. We shall see...
Take care, Rye
I blinked a few times and rubbed my eyes before looking back at the screen. The note was still there, and it was quickly apparent I wasn't just seeing things. Having already heard some of his music, I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was to hear this tidbit of news. Without giving it a second thought, I fired an email back between turning cartwheels across the room. Mine went something (exactly) like this…

Oh my God! That's wonderful news! You are an incredible talent. I've done a bit of research on you since learning of the documentary. I'm also a writer for BC Magazine and another website featuring Michael Johns and his most talented collaborations! With your permission, I'd like to do a feature on your musical career. Let me know if there's anything you'd like the general public to hear. Thanks so much for the add! I'm truly honored. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your song makes it to this album!!!
Now you must keep in mind, I was completely taken aback that he'd bothered to answer the first time, so I assumed that was the last I'd hear from Rye Randa, musician extraordinaire. I was just happy to know that he'd heard how excited I was to think he might be involved with the new CD.
Never in a million years, did I expect that he would agree to the feature article I'd proposed. I can't even put into words how honored I am to offer you the following correspondence I shared with Rye Randa...who now also holds the distinction of being my very first celebrity interview.
I asked if he could provide me with a Biography so I'd have a place to start. He sent the following Bio as found on his website, and added a few updated parts. I've left it just as he sent it, since even I can't improve on an hugely impressive history his career has already written.
When it comes to music, there isn't much RYE RANDA can't do! From singing and writing to producing and engineering, he truly does it all...
Rye's life-long passion and gift for music can be traced to his mother, Tina Dispoto, who was one of the CRYSTALETTES, a successful vocal trio whose songs topped the charts in the 60s. Rye himself began recording and performing at the young age of 14. His appetite and innate creativity inspired him to learn a number of instruments on his own including guitar, bass and piano. As a natural progression he then began to write and record his own material.
After attending the University of California in Irvine, Rye returned to Los Angeles to focus solely on music. It wasn't long before his song "LITTLE TOO RIGHT" became the #1 SONG out of 30,000 at Garageband.com and "OVERGROUND" went on to win FIRST PRIZE out of more than 33,000 entries from 50 countries in the USA SONGWRITING COMPETITION. The very same song was subsequently recorded by the legendary pop trio THREE DOG NIGHT and became one of only two new cuts on their 2004 release entitled "THREE DOG NIGHT: 35th ANNIVERSARY HITS COLLECTION" which features the GRAMMY-WINNING LONDON SYMPHONY.
In 2006 Rye partnered with talented guitarist, songwriter and friend Jeff Foxworth (Dave Stewart, Kara DioGuardi, Weekend Excursion). The two joined forces to form a dynamic producer-songwriter duo, and have been quite busy ever since. Current album projects include Three Dog Night, Bonnie Somerville (Garden State), Rachel Fox (Desperate Housewives) and Rossif Sutherland to name a few. Also Rye and Jeff recently signed on to score the exciting new NBC reality series “Echo Ops” which debuts in 2009.
Last year Rye and Jeff teamed up with their good friend Michael Johns (American Idol Season 7) to score the documentary film “Don’t Look Down” for the Ebersol brothers. The film chronicles Olympic snowboarder and skater Shaun White. “Don’t Look Down” airs January 2nd, 2009 on ESPN, and will be followed by a DVD release, as well as a Soundtrack featuring several bonus songs not heard in the film.
With more than a decade and a half of experience under his belt, Rye has written, produced and arranged over 300 records for numerous songwriters, artists and bands. But we can assure you this is only the beginning…
I followed up the Biography he'd sent with these questions, hoping to put some of my speculations to rest:
Q. - Are those release dates for the Don't Look Down soundtrack and DVD pretty firm?
Rye: ... My understanding is that they will be released in conjunction with the air date of the film. But I could be wrong!
Q. - It is also rumored that you helped Michael Johns with the "River Of Life" project. Are there any details that you would like to share about that collaboration?
Rye: ... Yes, I produced, engineered and played bass on that song. We recorded it for a documentary film called "Ithuteng" about the South-African Ithuteng Trust School for young teens that have basically been failed by the system in the post-Apartheid region of Soweto. One of the students, Lebo Kgasapane (the singer on "River of Life") passed from AIDS before the film was completed. We literally built the song around a short audio clip of Lebo that was recorded during the filming process (this is the actual voice you hear in the song). It was quite a touching experience for all of us. It was also a really wonderful experience to record the Dorsey High School Choir at Hollywood Sound. Those kids are very talented.
Q. - Of course, everyone would love to know which of your songs might end up on Michael's CD.
Rye: ... Unfortunately I can't say. It's top secret! But I can tell you that his CD will be off the hook. The tracks I've heard so far are insane! Plus there are some very big players involved. All in all I'm positive it will be a huge success.
Q. - Michael has mentioned the following people are involved with the new CD. Diane Warren, John Shanks, Ken Andrews, Matt Mahaffey, Linda Perry, John Legend, and of course, now we know about you. Do you know whether or not Cee-Lo Green and Mark Ronson are on board too?
Rye: I believe there will be some collaboration with Cee-Lo Green. Not sure about Mark Ronson. Q. - Some of the questions come from Michael Johns' fans at IDF (Idolforums.com - Michael's section on the board and home of The Aussie Posse forum.). You are rapidly gaining a fan base here at the IDF site as well! One of the members wanted to ask how long have you known Michael Johns?
Rye: ... Michael and I met in 2006 during the Ithuteng project. So about 2 and a half years.
Q. - How many tracks have you and he collaborated on in the past?
Rye: ... including the Lebo song and all the Shaun (White) stuff, probably around 30 tracks or so. Give or take.
Q. - Do you have plans to help or perform with Michael on future albums or projects?
Rye: There has been talk about us performing some of the Shaun songs live at the X Games, but that remains to be seen.
Q.- Are you signed now with a label, and if so, with whom?
Rye: ... No I am not signed. I've been quite busy with producing/writing/scoring for the last few years. As a result my own music has sort of been put on the back burner. But I always try to write and record whenever I have free time in between projects.
Q. - Are you currently working on a solo album, and if so, do you have a title for the album or a release date that I can share with the readers?
Rye: ... Like I said, it's slow moving, but yes I will release a solo album. Hopefully within the next year...
Q. – One of our members noticed Kara Dioguardi is in your top friends on MySpace. What connection do you have with the new 4th American Idol judge.
Rye: ... My writing/producing partner Jeff Foxworth used to play guitar in her band called "Platinum Weird" with Dave Stewart. So Jeff is the connection. Her songwriting career is definitely something that I aspire towards. She's had something like 60 of her songs on platinum selling albums! Quite remarkable…I have tremendous respect for her accomplishments.
Q. - Are there any other personal tracks or websites you can share in addition to the play list on MySpace? (Other than this one RyeRanda.com?)
Rye: ... wow, I forgot I had those tracks posted on my homepage! There are probably quite a few links out there that I'm unaware of, but other than that, it's just MySpace right now. However, I have a designer currently working on my official website, so hopefully that will be done very soon.
Q. - Do you know whether or not Michael's unreleased songs could legally be used in a fan video competition?
*Rye: ... Hmmm, which songs are you referring to? I'm not an expert on legal stuff, so I couldn't really say.
*(writer's note: To be fair to Mr. Randa, I didn't really expect he would be able to answer that question. I only hoped he'd ask Michael that question for me, since they are friends. Let's just say I was pushing my luck just a bit. lol)
Q. - Do you have any music videos for your music? Do you have any live performance videos I can share?
Rye: ... not at the moment, but stay tuned!
I thanked the gentleman again for his time, and must say I'm still a bit stunned that someone with his magnitude of talent took enough interest in one of his fans to respond. Garnering every bit of my gratitude for taking that time, I decided to try and do something as thanks to him in return.
I wrote a quick note to Mr. Michael Johns and asked if he had any comment he'd like to share regarding Mr. Rye Randa. I wish you could see the smile on my face as I copy and paste what he sent in return. Here's yet another gentleman's response to the simple request of a fan.

"He is an Artist and a genius! He is a dear friend and anyone who gets to work with him will be a better musician for doing so."
Michael Johns
Now it seems I owe Michael Johns my thanks as well! (Thank you Michael!) While I'm doling out thanks, may I just add a few names of the IDF Aussie Posse who sent questions for me to ask Rye. IDF members Feelingdizzy, Ainn, and BlueMonday provided some of the questions for this interview. They have my gratitude.
Please enjoy the following tracks of Rye Randa's music.
Here's the latest OFFICIAL WORD!!!
I received this from a website I'd requested information from months ago:
This message is to inform you that a DVD for ESPN SHAUN WHITE: DON'T LOOK DOWN (2008) will be released on January 6, 2009. If you would like more information, click on the link below or copy the address into your web browser.
You can also sign up to be reminded when it's actually released.
In continuing coverage given by news sources from all over the internet, Michael Johns' renditions of "The National Anthem" and "God Bless America" in Anaheim on July 4, 2009 is earning praise. By all accounts, these were some of the best performances of the songs ever heard.
Major League Baseball teams across the nation dedicated themselves to raising awareness and funds for ALS to commemorate Lou Gehrig's farewell speech 70 years ago. Michael Johns was there to pay tribute to America on her birthday, and to further his support in the fight for a cure of ALS. In honoring others, he unknowingly (and deservedly) earned honor from The Angels for himself.
Here's an excerpt taken from an article posted at their website.
In an effort to raise awareness and financial support for organizations leading the fight against ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, the Angels will have American Idol Finalist Michael Johns sing the national anthem before Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Johns, an avid supporter of ALS research, has been involved in certain organizations to help the fight against ALS.
In December 2008, he released the song "Another Christmas," with 50 percent of the proceeds going towards ALS research.
"Michael Johns embodies the spirit of this day," Angels entertainment and production manager Pete Bull said. "He loves America and the opportunity he had with American Idol was able to show what we can provide as a nation. He truly loves our country."
The feeling is mutual. Our country loves him as well. Cheers Michael Johns, our "Aussie-American", and thanks once again for everything you do for your fellow man. Now that the Fourth of July has passed, we'll look forward to your upcoming tour. Best wishes on your new album Hold Back My Heart.
That's an unusual name for an album from someone who so often gives of yours. :D
It was announced in an article from MLB.com, that American Idol finalist Michael Johns will be performing the National Anthem to offer his support in finding a cure for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). His first tribute for the cause was offered when he dedicated all proceeds from his single "Another Christmas" to various charities, one of which benefited ALS. That contribution was meant to honor the passing of Nancy O'Dell's mother to the disease. News of that gift can be found at Blogcritics.org.
This Independence Day, Michael continues his reputation for giving of his time and talent by singing at the following event. Here's an excerpt from the article "Major League Baseball clubs hold special on-field ceremonies on July 4th to honor 70th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's farewell speech" from MLB.com. Please read the entire article at the SOURCE.
In addition, individual Clubs will support the ALS cause on July 4th. For example, American Idol Finalist Michael Johns will perform the National Anthem prior to the Baltimore Orioles vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game; the Philadelphia Phillies have raised over $865,000 for ALS this year alone; and the Minnesota Twins are one of many Clubs that have donated a suite for ALS families.

From his MySpace Music blog today, Michael Johns sent out the news that his single "Heart On My Sleeve" from his debut album Hold Back My Heartcan now be downloaded FREE from Amazon.com. Here's the blog he sent out today:
If you haven't already downloaded this song, you'll find it distinctly different from anything you've heard him do before. Michael Johns is an accomplished singer/songwriter whose talent is limitless. As he's so often shown in the past, he can sing any genre of music and somehow make it his own. This song stretches the boundaries of Michael's previous works into a clearly high-polished, yet soulful rendition that softly rocks with sophistication.
Although the song was written by John Shanks and James Morrison, Michael's performance easily captures the emotions expressed in the lyrics and conveys them to the listener. Beautiful song, and beautifully done. Be sure to listen to the rest of the album when you download the free single. It's completely different from the single.

Monday, June 22, 2009 Listen to my new album!
Current mood: awake
Hey guys,
My album is streaming in it's entirety over at AOL Music! Check it out and let me know what you think! The album will be available on iTunes, Amazon and stores starting tomorrow.
At one of the absolute busiest times in his life, Michael Johns took the time to sit down and answer some questions for BC Magazine about his upcoming tour and new album.
The American Idol Season 7 Finalist is just one day away from releasing his debut album, Hold Back My Heart (Downtown Records); it drops Tuesday, June 23rd.
Michael's first single "Heart On My Sleeve" from that album, was the #1 most requested song at AOL Radio when they launched a Tweet Request only radio station, and is currently climbing Billboard's AC charts. Because the Tweet Request channel was only meant to stay live for a week, AOL Radio added the single to their Pop Idol and New Music First stations.
Although Michael is fairly active in the social media scene, finding time to keep up with him would take anyone to task. He's recently been spending most of his time traveling coast to coast doing radio tours and promotional concerts. He'll be touring the country with Brooke White (another American Idol Season 7 Finalist) beginning in August, then he's been asked to join David Foster and Friends on Tour in October.
How he made time for an interview, I'll never know, but I'm so thankful he cared enough to share the following answers with us.
How was putting this album together different from assembling your own (unreleased) records previously?
The most natural thing I've ever done. I mean it was seriously effortless to write and record. Great players and the songs came from the sky.
Is the songwriting process something you can describe?
Some people can but I can't. I just get in the room and let it flow. I try not to think about it too much for fear that the tap may stop running.
Do you have particular writing habits or rituals?
No, I just try to get in the mood of the song. I sometimes go months on end without writing a tune. I don't press writing I just let it come to me.
How did the opportunity to tour with Brooke White present itself? What are the advantages (or disadvantages) of touring with someone else rather than going solo?
We just really like each other and our sound has similar fans. She is one of my favorite singers around. I think people will hopefully enjoy what we do.
When you go on tour with David Foster and Friends in October, will you be doing the same songs you did on the CD (of the same name), or will you still be able to perform some of your solo music in support of your Hold Back My Heart album?
Some the same and also my own tunes. David has been such a support and really wants to see me succeed. He's the man and it was an honor to be asked, glad we could clear the schedule.
How important do you feel album art or shelf appearance is in drawing attention and sales to the album?
It's not my bag, but I love the artists that put it together, it really is amazing.
As you may know, I've written several pieces before about your work with Rye Randa and Jeff Foxworth for the soundtrack Don't Look Down, as well as your solo efforts. I recently noticed on your MySpace player that the record label is now Fontana South. Is there any truth to the news I recently got from a friend that you're no longer with TRP, and if so, who is now your management team?
TRP is no longer a label.
Just to confirm, TRP is still your management then?
No they are not. Michael Goldberg and Sanctuary are.
Can you tell us what caused the change in management and label?
Shit happens.
I've heard that your song "Dangerous" (not on this album) is going to be used in a film. Can you tell us which one?
Really hadn't heard…you tell me. (laugh)
There's a distinctly different flavor in music from each of the groups you've worked with in the past when compared to the new album. How would you describe the progression from when you first started in the music business until now?
I finally found me! It really is a dream come true as a singer to find your real voice.
Who wrote the storyline for your upcoming "Heart On My Sleeve" video, and why does it fit the song so well? (When can we see it, if you know?)
Nothing has been written in stone. I have a concept I think is cool but the director may have a way better idea.
Can you tell us about any behind-the-scenes projects your fans aren't aware of? (Like working with Air Supply for "Hold On", co-writing a song for Brooke's album, appearing on Hannah Montana, guest hosting The Today Show, etc.)
It's funny so many things get told to me in any given week. I try not to get my hopes up. It is nice, however, that different shows or clients keep wanting me to do things. Some work out, some fall through, but I'm having a great time right now.
We've seen your "Old School" and Christmas video "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday" with The Dan Band. Do you have future projects with The Dan Band you can tell us about?
Dan is a genius! I love him so much and whenever he calls to include me in his next hilarious project... I'm in.
What other artists or producers would you most like to work with in the future?
Dave Cobb, Dave Cobb, Dave Cobb.
To what or whom do you attribute your sense of humor, or are you just naturally gifted with wit?
Probably God. I mean doesn't everyone thank him? Kidding, look most Aussie's have a good wit; we are a relaxed people.
What guilty pleasure would most surprise your fans if they knew?
I love to watch horrible movies on my days off. I mean anything I know that will be terrible like Glitter or Ernest does something. (laughs)
Your name is associated to an extent with certain products (i.e. Papa Johns Pizza, Patron Tequila, Garnier Fructis, Chick-fil-A, etc.) even if those associations were unintentional. If you could choose any product on Earth that you would officially endorse (or to have sponsor your tour), what would it be and why?
Michael Johns' Chick-fil-A tour has a nice ring to it…so does set sail with Captain Morgan and Michael Johns.
When you were on American Idol, most of us weren't aware that in addition to being a fabulous singer, you're also an accomplished song writer and musician. Not that it matters now that you've made a successful solo career for yourself, but do you feel playing guitar or piano on American Idol would've made a difference? What made you decide not to play an instrument on the show?
Well. thank you. Look, I just never found the song I thought would work. I wanted to play INXS - "Never Tear Us Apart" acoustic, but I was told the song wasn't allowed. I think that song is as sexy as it gets to sing.
Having spent a number of years in the music business and suffering some unfortunate luck with a few previous labels going belly up or restructuring, I'm sure you've seen a lot of unscrupulous behavior, up to and including what I would personally consider outright thievery.
Now you've graced what most would consider is the world's largest music stage by achieving Finalist status on American Idol. That experience gives you a most unique platform from which to speak about the music industry in general. Any comment?
Look, Idol is so huge because the music industry has failed in the last eight years. People still love music as much as ever, but the industry thinks looks and age are more important than talent. Idol put an end to that. Introduced us to great singers we'd otherwise never know.
Quite honestly, I trimmed my list of questions down from over six pages of things I'd like to know about him, but I figured playing 20 questions with Michael Johns would be enough for now. After all, he's got a new album and tour to see about and I wouldn't want to keep him another second from doing that.
Between doing concerts, and promotional tours, and appearances on radio and television, Michael somehow finds the time to be both a music star and a husband. His wife of two years, Stacey Vuduris, is a star in her own right.
Well known as and interior designer, Stacey's design for Kristen Bell's home is currently being featured in a layout for the July issue of InStyle Magazine. You can find out more about her and see some of her work at her new website Stacey Vuduris Interior Design. I'd like to offer her my personal thanks for sharing some precious hubby time for BC Magazine.
Michael Johns can be found in the social media on Twitter, MySpace Music, and Facebook. He's done video chats on Stickam with over 6000 fans in attendance, all throwing questions at him at once. (Poor guy. No guarantees on how often he'll be doing that one.) He sends out telephone messages through Jamship, a service to which you can subscribe and receive weekly phone calls. For those of you who are into social media, be sure to go there and add him.
You can find his new album Hold Back My Heart on Amazon.com, iTunes, and stores everywhere starting June 23rd. His first single "Heart On My Sleeve" can be downloaded and heard on the radio now. You'll find Amazon.com links to most all of his music below this article.
You'll find him touring in August with Brooke White, and in October with David Foster and Friends. Hopefully, he'll come to a city near you. What you will not be able to find is somebody else standing on line in front of me to purchase his new album. Just listening to samples of all 12 songs, I already know, I must have this entire album to add to my Michael Johns collection of genius.
My sincere thanks to Michael for sharing his news and taking the time to do an interview. From the very first time I heard him say "It Can Happen" on American Idol, I somehow knew that it would.
Congratulations, Mate! It's happening now. Cheers, and my heartfelt best wishes for many more years of future success.

NARM (National Association of Recording Merchandisers) held their 2009 Convention last week and was host to some of the best known names in the music business. NARM is a non-profit organization devoted to advancing music by bringing together all aspects of the industry. For deatiled information on what they do, please visit their site.
Michael Johns and Brooke White provided entertainment for the finale event and headlined individual sets as well as joining to perform their duet "Life Is Okay" for the first time since it was recorded for the soundtrack album Don't Look Down. In addition to their performances last week, Daryl Hall and Johns Oates played at the Awards Dinner Finale, held on Wednesday, June 10th. Here's the convention news of Michael Johns and Brooke White as it was published at the NARM website:
These two American Idol alums teamed up recently for the hit single “Life is Okay” for the “Don’t Look Down” soundtrack and will meet again on the NARM stage for the Awards Dinner Finale.
Brooke White turned heads during last season’s “Idol” by delivering breathtaking renditions of songs by the Beatles, Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond. After she sang Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” Simon proclaimed White to be her favorite “Idol” vocalist. Her new album, “High Hopes and Heartbreak,” will be released this summer. Randy Jackson plays Executive Producer on the album.
Michael Johns delivers blue-eyed Soul as it’s meant to be heard. His new album, “Heart On My Sleeve,” due in stores June 16, is devoid of the typical glossy veneer applied to most modern albums, but heavy on vibe. It has a Blues-Country feel, with swelling strings accenting the delectable Pop of the album’s first single of the same title.
Okay, big gig, but not so big on accurate journalism. Michael Johns' new album is titled Hold Back My Heartand it's due out on June 23rd. I'll give them credit for getting the name of the single right. "Heart On My Sleeve" from his debut album is available on iTunes and Amazon.com now!

Brooke performs her new single, "Radio, Radio" from her debut album High Hopes and Heartbreak. Michael performs "To Love Somebody" also on his debut album in addition to eleven original tunes, and finally the duet we've all been waiting to see. Michael and Brooke sing the duet "Life Is Okay" from the Don't Look Down soundtrack. (an independent album produced by Johns, Foxworth, and Randa).

When I first reported this story on Thursday (See the original June 11th story here) based on an AOL Blog from that morning, I was more than happy to give you the news that Michael Johns' first single "Heart On My Sleeve" was one of the Top 11 songs requested that day in a contest held by AOL Radio.
AOL asked its listeners to send Twitter requests so they could launch a new Tweet Requests radio station. What wasn't known at the time that I published the first report, were the exact number of requests for the the Top 11 artists and songs. We just knew Michael Johns had done well based on preliminary reports from AOL Radio's blog.
Today, I am most pleased to announce that Michael Johns was in fact THE #1 most requested artist that day. Here's the news as it was confirmed in this Tweet from AOLRADIO a few hours ago:
"aolradio Well the #'s are in: It looks like the Michael Johns fans won by a mile - Johns was the most requested artist by a mile on Wednesday.about 7 hours ago from TweetDeck"
I've followed their news on Twitter and at AOL Radio on a daily basis since the launch of their Tweet Request station, and I'm loving every minute of finally finding a station that truly listens to the fans. Not only is Michael's single in heavy rotation at the first ever (that I'm aware of) Tweet Request station, they've also added his new single to their New Pop First channel as well as their Pop Idols station.
AOL Radio has more than 350 Sports, News, Talk and Music stations from which you can choose your favorite genre. Personally, I plan on listening to every one of their stations where they put Michael Johns' music in the rotation. Michael's debut album Hold Back My Heart will be released on June 23rd, which will give me at least 11 more songs to requests from my AOL radio stations. :D
You can listen to 30 second snippets of all 12 songs from the Hold Back My Heart album HERE. Cheers, and to Michael Johns, congratulations on being the most requested.
